Coast to coast
Been neglecting this site as work on the bronco takes much of my time, especially the trial and error portion.
Finding more locations all the tie.
while in the army and The different times and ways I crossed the country. By train, by pane by car, by RV, and by bus. Each was a
Next time was going back to Maine from Fort Ord on leave for Christmas, That was by Greyhound bus both ways. I guess that is when I got the bug to eventually get into traveling by RV. It was a unique experience that I enjoyed also, much different from the train with all it’s comforts. My first encounter with an epileptic seizure happened while eating and a man sitting next to me started stiffening up and shaking some with no control of his actions, I got up and holding him from behind gently lowered him to the floor where dinner personal came around and took over comforting him until ambulance arrived.
After the bus driver got some written verification from the store manager that there was somebody looking after this person’s welfare we were on the road again.
Next time was again by Greyhound bus when I was discharged from the army. I can’t recall much about this trip except it was in January of 1965 and leaving from Salinas California with temperature in the 60’s and getting off on the east coast with the temperature below zero was a shock although I grew up in those temperature's.
I’m still practicing’
so,I need to gather pictures and maybe dates toput in here

Repairs
Moving the RV around the yard the transmission started acting up then went into forward mode, any gear it was shifted to made it go forward including reverse and park although park kept it from moving.
Diagnosing problem was the next step, drain fluid remove pan, change filter, flush system including cooler, refill with new fluid and try it, same problem except at this point grandson came in the picture. He, while the tranny was being worked on, discovered the radio that only works when the switch is ignition on. Seems the mechanical fuel pump had a internal leak and the electrical pump from the rear tank, which couldn't be heard running, overfilled the crankcase. Not realizing what caused the engine not to start and run I looked at the ignition as the culprit. When I couldn't get it to run right and in the process of looking at different areas I found oily fuel residue leaking out the exhaust.
Next drain oil and replace filter and fill with oil. Still not running so I tried different timing adjustments, advancing it too much it kicked back and broke the starter motor case. Change starter and try to start after resetting timing back, turn the key, another loud sound as the second starter motor case breaks. Conclusion, jumped timing chain.
Pulled the front off the engine, timing chain is loose but on the mark. Replace chain and close up front of engine but decide a new water pump should be installed. Look for HD water pump, none available but Napa say they can get one in 3 or 4 days. 10 days later I check with Napa, they say it will be in within a week. Finally I install the water pump, get engine started, it runs but the tranny is still putting a load on the engine. I pull the drive shaft, start the engine and at this time it runs good but in neutral at idle the speedometer registers 25 MPH.
Next, pull the tranny, rebuild it and in the process try to find out what caused it to burn up front clutch. I questioned a lot of people, contacted forums but no specific answer to what would cause the front clutch to burn, in the yard, not driving.
The tranny is now back in and seems to work just fine but I haven't connected the drive shaft yet. Rain kept me from that and I still need to change the power steering belt to create enough adjustment so the AC belt can be tightened.
A road test is next to verify shift points.Home

Today in Middletown
Randy has tranny problems and was seeking help. I told him first step of diagnosing and to get back to me with what he finds.
Talked with Shannon and Sam. Sam bought the car she was looking at for less then she originally offered but still high for what she described to me afterwards.
BP been high morning, low afternoon so I’m confused with the results but taking meds daily same as I’ve been doing.

I woke up to sound of rain today. First rain of the season but it’s still warm enough that I don’t have much additional pain.
10/25/10 Monday.
I .after 2 days of rain, got the camper on the truck today. Still need to secure the extended support underneath but the regular tie downs are done although they will need adjusting as they loosen with movement.
I need to take pictures after the rear is done so I remember how it all goes.
